The Arc of Colour
A two day painting workshop – focusing on darkness and light
As we move into the shorter days, growing darkness and increasing inwardness of the Winter months we can at times feel the need to push out of this darkness to feel more awake and enlivened. For me, this is a time of renewed imagination and creativity. ‘Between the staining of canvas and fingers lies the ongoing potential of painting to answer the constant human urge to create’.
Focusing on the phenomena of the warm and cool polarity of colour, we shall deepen our understanding of the whole poetry of colour through visualizations and brief observation with prisms. To strengthen our understanding of structure in colour, we will playfully explore compositions to establish balanced and richly contrasting paintings.
“I am interested in the miracle of being alive, I want to be in the world – I have no agenda. I paint to understand myself in the world…I paint to find myself. Authenticity – it has to be what one is about, I’m trying to get to what I’m about.”
