Grief Tending Gatherings

Grief Tending Gatherings

“We live in a culture that has lost its way, living in a state of profound amnesia and anesthesia. Grief is the antidote, the healing balm that can help us remember what it means to be fully alive, to feel deeply, and to reconnect with the world around us.” — Francis Weller

Overview

We invite you to join us for a series of Grief Tending Gatherings at Emerson College. These gatherings provide a compassionate and supportive space for individuals to explore and process their grief in a communal setting. Whether your grief stems from bereavement, personal loss, or the broader sorrows of life, these sessions offer a unique opportunity for healing and renewal.

You could join for one or all of the gatherings.

About the Gatherings

Our Grief Tending Gatherings are inspired by the teachings of Francis Weller and other wisdom traditions. Each session includes guided exercises, rituals and ceremonial immersions, communal sharing, and reflective practices, all aimed at helping participants connect with and honor their grief. The gatherings provide a sacred space where all parts of your experience are welcome, and where you can safely explore your emotions and find support among others.

These gatherings are not just about grieving loss but are also about recognizing the broader spectrum of grief, including unacknowledged sorrows, ancestral grief, and grief for the world. By coming together in a shared space, we foster a deeper sense of connection and compassion.
